Hi, I’m Nigel rahman.
I'm a Masters-qualified counsellor and psychotherapist offering adults and students a warm, non-judgmental space to explore what matters most. I graduated with Distinction from the University of Salford's Master of Science in Counselling and Psychotherapy programme.
Like many therapists, my passion for this work was born from personal experience — the transformative power of therapy when I needed it most. This lived experience continues to support my professional work, helping me meet you with grounded empathy, not assumptions.
The heart of therapy is connection. Feeling truly heard and seen creates the safety needed for change, so I prioritise building a strong, collaborative relationship where you feel safe enough to explore whatever you'd like to bring.
Above all, I want therapy to feel possible for you — however life has shaped you, whatever you've carried, and wherever you're ready to go next.
My Background & Experience
My extensive charity sector experience — working across diverse communities and with underprivileged youth — has deepened my commitment to accessible, inclusive care that challenges outdated biases. I've also enjoyed coaching young men through the specific challenges of college and university life — from academic pressure and social expectations to building confidence and direction during that pivotal transition.
My own minoritised background gives me a lived understanding of navigating cultural challenges, systemic barriers, and the complex interplay of identity in mental health. This personal insight means I can meet you where you are, recognising the unique pressures you might face without needing to explain them.
I hold a Biochemistry degree from the University of Liverpool, have completed Level 6 Supervisor training, delivered workshops on productivity and wellbeing, and volunteered with The Stroke Association.
I'm registered with the BACP and prioritise confidentiality while being clear about its limits from our first conversation.
Above all, I want therapy to feel possible for you — however life has shaped you, whatever you've carried, and wherever you're ready to go next.
My Approach
I work from a Person-Centred perspective, offering warmth, genuine curiosity, and non-judgement. My practice is rooted in cultural competency and an intersectional understanding of how identity, culture, and neurodiversity shape your experience — an awareness deepened by travelling and engaging with communities across Europe and Singapore.
I believe meaningful change happens in relationship, and my role is to create the conditions where you can trust yourself again. I also have experience in CBT and clinical supervision, alongside a particular interest in the impact of technology on mental health — from social media pressures and digital expectations to the way online life shapes self-image, especially for young people.
This creates a calm, collaborative space where you can work at your own pace, be real without filters, and explore what matters most to you. Working with clients from diverse and minoritised backgrounds is a particular privilege — I bring not just professional training but also personal insight into the cultural and systemic realities that shape our inner worlds.
